Observare is open. £5 a month, 7-day free trial, card required at signup so there's no "come back and add billing later" step. You can start monitoring your stack right now at observare.co.uk/register.
Here's what you get for that fiver.
Monitoring, all four types included
Every check type runs on a 5, 10, or 15-minute interval — your choice per monitor. Each one comes with a 30-second confirmation recheck before alerting, so a single transient blip never pages you, and a flapping-detection pass that rolls up storms of up/down toggles into a single notification.
- Uptime monitoring — HTTP/HTTPS checks with response time tracking, expected status code, and configurable timeout.
- SSL certificate monitoring — daily TLS scans with four configurable expiry thresholds (30 / 14 / 7 / 1 days). Catches chain problems and invalid certs too, not just expiry.
- Port monitoring — TCP connect checks and UDP probes against any host/port combination reachable from the public internet.
- Cron heartbeat monitoring — your jobs ping a unique URL on success or failure. We alert if a ping goes missing or explicitly fails.
30 monitors per type, per account. Four types means up to 120 monitors in total on a single £5 subscription.
Five alert channels, all included
No channel tier, no per-message add-on. The whole matrix is in the box:
- Email — branded HTML, sent via Mailgun.
- SMS — real SMS via VooDoo SMS, 50 per account per month.
- Slack — colour-coded Block Kit messages via an incoming webhook.
- Discord — colour-coded embeds via a Discord webhook.
- Generic webhook — optional HMAC-SHA256 signing, 15 event types, SSRF-guarded. Plug it into PagerDuty, Opsgenie, n8n, Zapier, Make, or your own service.
Pick any combination per monitor. Most people turn on email everywhere and SMS on the two or three things that really matter.
Two more things, also in the bundle
Not strictly monitoring, but part of the same "small operator's tool belt" pitch:
- Stripe webhook logging and replay — each Stripe endpoint you create on Observare gets its own receiver URL and signing secret. We store every event, verify the signature, let you search them, and replay them to your dev environment as a POST or a generated cURL command. Comparable to Hookdeck and Svix. Same subscription.
- Branded public status pages — up to 5 per account, with custom theme, logo, accent colour, password protection, per-monitor opt-in, 14-day incident history, and a JSON API. Comparable to Statuspage.io and Instatus. Same subscription.
Go look at the real thing
I don't expect anyone to take a feature list at face value. So I run the thing against itself: Observare monitors Observare, and the two public status pages it produces are open for anyone to look at.
- status.observare.co.uk — the public marketing site
- status.observare.io — the customer application
Those pages aren't a demo or a mockup. They're the exact feature you get when you sign up, pointed at the hosts running Observare itself. If the monitors catch a real outage on my infrastructure, you'll see it there first — before any blog post, before any apology email.
Who this is for
One login, one bill, one alert inbox, and a price that doesn't sting on your personal card. That's it. I'm not trying to replace Datadog; I'm trying to replace the four free-tier tabs you have pinned right now.
If you're a solo dev, a freelancer, or a small agency running 3 to 20 services on a VPS, and you've noticed that the tools you actually need are all sitting in different logins with different bills, you're the reason I built this.
Start your trial at observare.co.uk/register. Cancel any time from inside the dashboard in two clicks — no email ping-pong. First charge is £5 on day 8, and £5 a month after that, no sudden price hikes.
Next on the roadmap: a Go agent for monitoring stuff inside private networks. I'll post about that once it's live.
